A small group of people invited for the food tasting at FC Grill House, yet it turned out to be a fun evening!
FC Grill House, a restaurant located bang-on FC road, above Oriental Bank of Commerce, not difficult to locate. Before you open the door to this restaurant, you can hear the music buzzing beyond the walls. And when the door opens, voila! You can see that the place is jam packed on Friday evenings or weekends! I was invited here on a Friday evening and Sabali was performing Live for the audience. I have to admit, although I am not much of a Live music fan kind of person, the music slowly grew on me. Sabali not only plays various kinds of songs but adds their own version of Rap (some good, some meh!) to the songs they play. Kind of keeps you guessing, doesn’t it?
The space in this restaurant isn’t huge, but I like the way they made the most of their space in terms of the seating arrangements. You can opt for a table near the window which gives you a nice view of FC road. They even have small room like compartments, which will give your group a peaceful privacy if loud music is not your cup of tea. And if you are a music buff then there plenty of tables facing the stage so you can be engrossed in music while enjoying your food.
Coming to the more important aspects, the drinks! Tried Raspberry Tea Julep, a whiskey based cocktail with fresh mint and raspberry iced tea. It is a sweet drink but should set the right mood for you. It’s a raspberry version of iced tea and mojito. The star of the day was chocolate cookie. Although, I was in serious doubt when I had the first look at it, it turned out to be a surprisingly tasty cocktail! If you love chocolate flavor, then this is an apt drink for your evening! You can also choose out of the many other options like Pina colada and LIT. So, what’s your poison?
Fooooood! Is there anything as important as food? Nah! I don’t think so! Food can make or break my decision to like a place (or a person!) and FC grill house did not disappoint! You have GOT to try their chicken tandoori and non-vegetarian platter! Kebabs are succulent, scrumptious and finger-licking good! Full on masaledar! Even the mushroom starter was yummy.
But there were others that lacked that spark. For instance, Prawns were served in a much sweeter sauce than I expected. Also, the Rolly Polly Chicken had dry bits of chicken. So I would avoid them next time. For the main course, we stuck to Indian food, although they do serve Italian, we ordered for Murgh musallam and Chicken lahori. Both were good so no complaints there. I do want to go back and try their Pizzas for sure!
I had my eyes on their one dessert, Boozy chocolate cheesecake. I wondered how boozy it would be? Turned out, quite! Have you ever had a dessert which has the same amount of alcohol as sugar? Well, Boozy chocolate cheesecake is exactly that! A bittersweet combination which is quite enjoyable once you get used to the flavors. Disclaimer: Please try this at your own risk, as this can give you a good kick! 🙂 Last came the chocolate cheesecake! For those who like to stick to the usual! Cake is soft, moist, chocolaty and delectable!
Verdict: 3.5/5
Considering the reasonable prices on booze and food, this place is totally recommended for college-goers! Also for colleagues who want to shoo away their office blues! If you are a music fan, this place will rock your weekends whilst keeping your pockets happy! 🙂
Last but not the least, a huge shout-out to FC Grill House and HungerNation for extending the invite! I had such a great time! 🙂
